Child Okeford Community Centre
Where is it?
The Community Centre is situated on the Playing Field in Station Road, Child Okeford and is owned by the Child Okeford Parish Council.
Who runs it?
It is managed by a voluntary committee of village residents who are also trustees of The Child Okeford Playing Field Association, a registered charity. The committee consists of a Chairman (Barry Curtis), a Treasurer (Peter Allen), a Booking Secretary (Ron Jones) and a Secretary (Sue Clayton). A representative member of each village organisation is invited to attend our bi-monthly meetings which are advertised in The Hill.
What is it for?
We are responsible for letting the hall and booking the sports field for Football and Cricket matches, car boot sales and special events like the VE/VJ Day Celebration and Hey Day. We are also responsible for maintaining the building and paying the running costs. The hall has to be self sufficient and derives it’s income from letting charges, donations and occasional charity events.
Fund Raising
As well as running car boots and jumbles, we have an internet on-line shop where you can buy almost anything from a book to a holiday. Anything you buy will earn us a small commission which helps our funds. The web address for the shop is:
